Welcome to The Agnon School!

We're Cleveland's only Jewish community day school "a school that reaches out to families and teaches students from all walks of life. Academic excellence in general studies and in Judaics is not only possible" at Agnon, each reinforces and supports the other. Our graduates go on to the best public and private high schools in the area; and are prepared to enter the most challenging universities four years later. However, a school such as ours must go beyond preparing students for college. We prepare them for life. A life of Jewish values, in which their history and heritage are made relevant for them today and tomorrow; a life which offers connections to a timeless past, and a People, and to Israel.

Take a look at the artwork on the walls and the Hebrew poetry; listen to the music that fills the hallways and the excitement over mastering a science experiment; and breathe in the spiritual growth and personal development that occurs in Agnon's warm, nurturing environment. You'll see for yourself how magical Agnon is.

The Agnon School is a Jewish community day school, embracing a wide spectrum of the community in terms of perspective and affiliation. While we understand the challenges inherent in a community, non-denominationally defined Jewish day school, we celebrate the richness of pluralism and the strength of diversity. We believe that a community school is one in which Jewish students from all backgrounds and perspectives can learn from each other and celebrate our commonalities while understanding and appreciating our differences.

Jewish and general studies woven seamlessly together throughout the day have been the hallmark of The Agnon School since its founding in 1969. Agnon continues to educate students from diverse Jewish backgrounds to be knowledgeable of their heritage while respecting differences of observance and thought within the Jewish community.

Agnon School is named after Shmuel Yosef Agnon (1888-1970), the first Israeli to win the Nobel Prize for Literature in 1966. S.Y. Agnon viewed himself as standing halfway between Jewish tradition and modern culture. He was firmly rooted in both worlds, just as we are here at Agnon.
